Funny how a tool meant for fire-starting has turned into the Swiss army knife of lighters for folks here. I’ve used mine to light cotton balls soaked in a bit of olive oil—worked like a charm even after a rain. Love the paracord sealing idea, that’s one I’ll be stealing. Anyone notice a difference in arc strength when the battery gets low, or is it pretty steady ’til it’s dead?

The versatility folks are getting out of this lighter is just so impressive—never would’ve guessed it would work this well for heat-shrink tubing and sealing off twine and paracord ends. Melting the ends of twine and paracord with this lighter has saved me so much hassle in the garden—love that it’s multipurpose. The charge really does hold out through a weekend, even if I’m fussing over kindling or stubborn candle wicks. I still keep a backup charged, just in case. Anyone tried using it to light a beeswax taper with a recessed wick? Always seems trickier than regular candles.
