Early Departure for Megan Thee Stallion from Broadway Musical

Popular rapper Megan Thee Stallion, known for her hit song "Hiss", has announced that she will be leaving the Broadway show, "Moulin Rouge! The Musical", ahead of her scheduled end date. She revealed her last performance as the character Zidler will take place on May 1, instead of the original end date of May 17.

Heartfelt Farewell

In an emotional Instagram post, she expressed her gratitude for the experience and everyone involved in the production. She wrote, "It's been such an honor to be part of thee Moulin Rouge family and I've met so many amazing people in this theater." She further thanked her fans, lovingly referred to as the 'Hotties', for their support throughout her Broadway journey.

However, the 31-year-old artist did not provide an explanation for her early departure from the show.

Breakup with NBA Star

The announcement came shortly after Megan Thee Stallion confirmed the end of her relationship with NBA player Klay Thompson. She had previously shared a cryptic message on her Instagram story, hinting at issues in their relationship during the basketball season. She later confirmed the split, emphasizing the importance of trust, fidelity, and respect in a relationship, and her decision to prioritize herself.

Emotional Curtain Call

A widely circulated video captured Megan Thee Stallion visibly emotional during her final curtain call at "Moulin Rouge!" on the same day she announced her breakup.

A Trailblazer on Broadway

Megan Thee Stallion had joined the cast of "Moulin Rouge!" in March, marking her Broadway debut. She also made history as the first female-identifying performer to take on the role of nightclub impresario Zidler in the show. Despite her early exit, her stint in the musical was not without challenges.

Health Scare on Stage

She was hospitalized on March 31 due to severe exhaustion, dehydration, vasoconstriction, and low metabolic levels, which she experienced during a performance. She described the incident as a "real wake-up call," and resumed her performances on April 2.

A Tribute to Her Late Mother

Earlier in March, Megan Thee Stallion had shared that her late mother would have been proud to see her on Broadway. She mentioned that her mother used to encourage her to participate in plays, which she now views as a stepping stone to her current Broadway role. She said, "I feel like this is something that my mom would've really wanted me to do."
