Unveiling the Hefty Paychecks of Tech Pros in a Leading Social Media Company

In recent times, a leading social media company went on an aggressive hunt for the best AI professionals, shelling out impressive salary packages. The company's employees, from software engineers to product managers, are banking hefty annual salaries, excluding the bonuses and stock options.

One such software engineer at the company bagged a yearly base salary of $450,000. At the same time, a research engineer made $400,000, and a product manager pocketed $348,000. These figures don't even account for the stock options, bonuses, and other benefits they receive.

Inside Look at the Pay Structure

An analysis of over 5,800 federal H-1B and other work visa applications filed by the social media company in the past year gives us a sneak peek into their compensation structure. While the analysis includes roles at the company's main branch, it also takes into account its subsidiaries, including a messaging app and its payments division.

The data reveals a majority of the new hires at the company earn a base salary ranging from $150,000 to $250,000. The company doesn't shy away from shelling out exorbitant amounts for specialized AI talent and those in senior technical positions.

Breakdown of Roles and Salaries

Interestingly, about half of all positions filled through the H-1B visa program were for software engineering roles. Software engineers can demand salaries as high as $450,000. On the other hand, product designers and UX researchers frequently earn over the $200,000 mark.

Furthermore, the vice president of AI at the company takes home a staggering base salary of $650,000.

However, these figures only reflect the base salaries. They don't include stock options, signing bonuses, and other perks that can often increase the total compensation by two or three times. In fact, for high-level researchers, the company has been known to offer total packages exceeding $100 million.

By the end of the past year, the company had a strong workforce of 78,865 employees.

Changes in the Hiring Strategy

In the last quarter of the past year, filings for H-1B visas at the company saw a significant drop compared to the same period in the preceding year. The drop coincided with alterations in the work visa program made by the Trump administration in September, which made the process more expensive and subjected applicants to more stringent scrutiny. Despite being on a hiring spree, the company also made layoffs in its Reality Labs and other departments.

Compensation Across Key Roles

Here's a snapshot of the kind of salaries various roles are attracting at the social media company, based on work visa filings from the past fiscal year.
