Mystery Surrounds Death of Mango Founder After Son Arrested on Suspicion of Murder During Hiking Trip

Uncertainty Surrounds Mysterious Death of Clothing Mogul on Hiking Trip

When the son of a deceased entrepreneur, who had built one of the largest clothing companies in Europe, was arrested in connection with his father's demise, it added another layer of intrigue to a story that has both captivated and puzzled the nation.

The illustrious business tycoon, who had established a globally recognized clothing label, met his untimely end at 71, after plummeting approximately 500ft from a cliff in the Montserrat natural park north of a major Spanish city. The father and son had been hiking in this area together.

The son's arrest came after a judge in a town near the city ruled that there was "sufficient evidence to label the death as non-accidental, with the active and deliberate involvement of the son in his father's passing."

The Son's Account Raises Questions

The mogul's eldest child had been the one to alert emergency services, who then retrieved the body. He informed authorities that he had been leading the way when he heard the sound of shifting rocks and turned around to discover his father had fallen.

However, investigators soon questioned him again and several months later, the case was reopened with the son officially declared a suspect.

In response, those responsible for executing the tycoon's will publicized a statement insisting on the son's innocence. They described the sorrow of private mourning being compounded by a public debate that only added to their suffering.

Evidence Sparks Suspicions

The son's recent arrest appears to be largely based on various allegations surrounding the circumstances of his father's death and the ill-fated hike.

Investigators are skeptical that the type of slip the son described would've been possible at the location where the fall occurred. The duo were near some caves, following a scenic, relatively easy route that's popular among families and students.

They also question the alignment of a footmark where the son claimed his father fell with the possibility of someone slipping and falling.

Moreover, investigators noted that the mogul's body position and injuries didn't align with an accidental fall. A forensic report concluded that it appeared "as if he had slid down a chute, feet first".

Authorities have also picked up on perceived inconsistencies in the son's accounts of his own position when his father fell. In one version, he claimed he was in front, but in another, they were closer together. He had initially told authorities that his father had been snapping pictures just before the accident. However, the phone was discovered in the mogul's pocket when his body was found.

Actions Raise Eyebrows

The son's three trips to the fall site on different days also raised eyebrows, with the judge suggesting they indicated "a planning and study of the site".

Additionally, the son's phone vanished around the time that the investigation's reopening was being covered in the media. He reported to authorities that the device had been stolen during a short trip to Ecuador.

Investigators are also exploring broader circumstances related to the mogul's death, identifying a potential motive in the nature of his relationship with his son, especially in the context of the clothing business.

The mogul, who had Jewish roots, was born in Istanbul and relocated with his family to Catalonia as a young man before launching the clothing label in the mid-1980s. This venture made him the wealthiest individual in Catalonia and the company has since expanded to employ more than 16,000 people, raking in a revenue of over €3.3bn.

The son has been an integral part of the company's growth over the past two decades, especially its men's clothing line, although he has distanced himself from this role since his father's passing. He and his two younger sisters currently hold control of a holding company that owns a 95% stake in the clothing company.

Details just don’t add up—revisiting the site multiple times and the phone vanishing both seem calculated. Was there any history of conflict between father and son documented before this?
