Quick Tips for Sustainable Living Off-Grid?
Just been re-reading some old pioneer journals and the simplicity of their lifestyle got me thinking – what can we modern folk do to sustainably live off-grid? Been at this for decades, but there's always something new to learn and share, right?
Been thinking and collecting a few ideas. Like how it's essential to produce and preserve our own food – canning, smoking meat, root cellars, etc. What about heirloom seeds? Great for maintaining a diverse, self-replicating food supply. Water's another biggie. Rainwater collection, water filtration, even digging wells if you're feeling particularly ambitious.
Also, thought of alternative energy sources (solar, wind, water) and the importance of practical skills, from basic carpentry to animal husbandry. And let's not forget about communication – without the Internet, how do we stay in touch? Shortwave radios maybe?
I'm probably forgetting a ton, but I'd love to hear from you lot. What aspects of sustainable living off-grid would you highlight? Any tips or resources for those looking to break away
