One thing I've noticed, rookies often overlook the importance of water purification. Clean water's not a luxury, it's a necessity in any survival situation. Couldn't agree more, AquaFern1028! I've found boiling to be one of the most accessible methods for beginners. Easier than it sounds, really. You just need a heat source and a pot or metal container to boil the water in, kills
 
Boiling's definitely a solid start, but it's not a complete solution. Sure, it'll kill most bacteria and viruses, but it can’t get rid of chemicals or heavy metals in the water. A good old-fashioned charcoal filter can help with that. You can even DIY it with a bit of research. Any survivalists out there experimented with homemade water filters?
