I'm never without a bit of strong cordage, a pack of herbal tea bags (comfort matters!), and a small sewing kit—those have saved me more times than you'd think, especially in situations where creativity was the only option.

Herbal tea bags—that’s a clever touch, hadn’t thought of them as morale boosters, but it makes perfect sense. I always throw in a small chunk of pine resin (firestarter and repair putty), a bit of beeswax (waterproofing, lip balm, etc.), and a travel-sized paintbrush. That last one sounds weird, but it’s handy for cleaning gear or dusting wounds. Ever find yourself using your sewing kit for things other than clothes repairs?

Herbal tea bags really are a top pick—soothing a sore throat or just settling nerves after a rough day is worth a lot. I’ve used my sewing kit for patching up a backpack and even fixing a bug net once, so absolutely, it’s not just for torn shirts! Funny enough, a little spool of wire sneaks into my bag too, since it’s so handy for repairs and improvising gear. Anyone else pack something oddball for pure comfort?
