If I had to pick just one, I'd say a solid water filtration system tops my list. I know fire and shelter are critical, but having clean water is absolutely essential for long-term health. Years working as a nurse taught me how quickly things go downhill when folks get dehydrated or sick from contaminated water. I keep a gravity-fed filter (the kind you can use without electricity) and always have backup tablets just in case. Plus, you can get creative—boiling, solar stills, or even certain plants can help in a pinch, but you can’t beat the peace of mind from a reliable filter.

I’m also pretty fond of my little hand-crank radio/flashlight combo. It's not flashy but it’s kept

Definitely agree that water filtration is key—without clean water, not much else matters. Ever tried making a DIY sand filter for emergencies, or do you always stick with commercial ones?
