Planned Federal Intervention in San Francisco Halted Following Dialogue with City Mayor

A recent declaration from the President stated that the proposed mobilization of federal officers to San Francisco has been withdrawn. This decision was made after a discussion with the city's Mayor.

The President shared his decision on a social media platform where he also mentioned that several notable technology industry leaders had reached out to him. They requested him to reconsider the planned "surge" operation, which was due this Saturday, as the city has been making significant improvements.

City's Future Looks Promising, Say Tech Leaders

In his statement, the President said, "I had a conversation with the Mayor and he politely requested that I give him some time to improve the situation. Several esteemed individuals like the CEO of a major chip manufacturing company and the CEO and co-founder of a leading customer relationship management company called me. They believe in the city's bright future and want to give it a chance. Hence, we will not proceed with the surge operation in San Francisco this Saturday. Stay tuned!"

It was confirmed by two officials from the city's security department that the planned operation involving border patrol in San Francisco has been called off.

Mayor Expresses Gratitude and Optimism

In a different statement, the Mayor said he received a call from the President late on Wednesday night. He asserted, "I told him what I've been telling our citizens: San Francisco is on the rise. Visitors are returning, buildings are getting leased and bought, and workers are coming back to the offices."

He further added, "During that conversation, the President made it clear that he was cancelling any plans for a federal deployment in San Francisco. The Secretary of Homeland Security reconfirmed this in our conversation today."

The Mayor expressed his deep gratitude to the people of San Francisco who showed unity over the past few days. He praised the city leaders' dedication towards public safety and the display of the city's values - a testament to the city's greatness.

Decline in Crime Rates

In a press conference, the Mayor pointed out that the crime rates in the city have shown a considerable decline. "Today, citywide crime in San Francisco is down almost 30%. Violent crime is at its lowest since the 1950s. Car break-ins have reached a 22-year low and homicides are on track to reach a 70-year low. Our new approach is yielding results."

He also mentioned his conversation with the Attorney General and the security department's leader, in which they assured their support in dealing with the fentanyl crisis. "She reiterated her willingness to assist our local law enforcement in combating fentanyl and holding drug traffickers accountable," the Mayor stated.

Support and Praise

State Governor expressed his backing for the President's last-minute change of plan. He stated, "The President has, for once, listened to reason and paid heed to what we've been saying from the start."

The former Speaker of the House commended the Mayor in her statement. "Mayor Daniel Lurie has shown remarkable leadership in his unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of San Franciscans. He has emphasized that public safety should be guided by local priorities, respecting our values and communities," she said.

Uncertainty in Neighboring Cities

In Oakland, across the Bay, political and community leaders assembled outside the city hall to criticize the potential arrival of Border Patrol agents. They urged the citizens to remain calm despite the government's "increased rhetoric and enforcement stance" in the Bay Area.

The Mayor of Oakland stated, "These federal actions are not about public safety. They're political stunts intended to divide and intimidate. Oakland will not take the bait. We will remain calm, focused, and united."

While the planned immigration enforcement surge in San Francisco has been called off, the Mayor of Oakland expressed uncertainty about the administration's plans for her city and neighboring cities. She said, "I have not received any communication from the White House or the Department of Homeland Security regarding federal operations in Oakland; however, I am in touch with the Governor's Office and our federal delegation."

She further added, "We are aware that border patrol agents are being stationed on Coast Guard Island, but let me be clear, our city, we are fully prepared. We are monitoring developments closely and will keep our residents informed if there are any confirmed changes. We will continue to be a welcoming city for immigrants."
