Trump Halts Strait of Hormuz Military Operation After International Pressure

Unveiling the Unexpected Halt of a Military Project

The sudden stop to a military operation led by the United States, headed by the 79-year-old President, has been unveiled. The President, through a social media post, revealed that he was suspending the operation, which was designed to ensure the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz. The mission was codenamed "Project Freedom".

The decision to hold back the mission was influenced by requests from Pakistan and other nations. However, the naval blockade against Iran by the U.S. was to remain unaffected by this decision.

Unexpected Reaction from Allies

But, this operation, "Project Freedom", had already upset some of the President's important allies in the Gulf region. After the announcement of the mission, Saudi Arabia made it clear that it would not permit U.S. military aircraft to operate from or fly through their airspace. This included the Prince Sultan Airbase, located southeast of their capital.

Attempts to resolve the situation were unsuccessful, even after a discussion between the President and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. This led to the sudden suspension of "Project Freedom" to maintain vital U.S. military access to the airspace.

Significance of Cooperation from Regional Allies

Military geographical constraints require the cooperation of regional partners for the effective utilization of their airspace. This is especially true for operations like "Project Freedom", where military aircraft were assigned to protect the ships.

It was also revealed that other close allies in the Gulf region were caught off guard by the President's announcement of the mission. However, the specific countries were not mentioned.

Impact on the Global Oil Supply

The tension between the President and Iran has considerably affected the worldwide oil supply. This has resulted in a surge in fuel prices due to Tehran's tight grip on this crucial route. Only three U.S. ships have managed to navigate through the strait since the start of the mission.

Despite this, communication between the President and the Saudi Crown Prince has been consistent, according to a Saudi source. Other top U.S. officials have also been in contact with Saudi officials regarding the situation.

Response from the Middle East and Pakistan

A diplomat from the Middle East shared that the U.S. only coordinated with their country after the announcement. Despite the lack of prior notice, the diplomat maintained that they were neither upset nor angry.

On the other hand, Pakistan's Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, publicly expressed support for the President's decision. He praised his "courageous leadership" in suspending "Project Freedom" and acknowledged the role of the Saudi Crown Prince in the recent developments.

Sharif wrote, "President's gracious response to the request made by Pakistan and other brotherly countries, particularly Saudi Arabia and my dear brother Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, will go a long way towards advancing regional peace, stability, and reconciliation during this sensitive period."
