Filtered rainwater can be a lifesaver in a pinch, but what if it's your only source for an extended period? Tried and true DIY purification methods, anyone? Got some tips on handling potential chemical pollutants?

Relying on rainwater long-term does pose challenges, especially with chemical contaminants. Charcoal's great for this—a slow sand and activated charcoal filter can snag a good deal of pollutants. From experience, it’s crucial to regularly replace the charcoal for optimal results. Anyone else use charcoal filtration? How often you folks switching it out?

Couldn't agree more about charcoal being a must-have for long-term rainwater filtration. It's been a game changer for me. Personally, I aim to replace it every six months—more often if there's been particularly heavy rainfall. Wonder how everyone else's schedule stacks up? Does rainfall amount affect when you switch it out too?
