What’s In Your 72-Hour Emergency Kit Right Now?

Curious what folks are packing these days in their 72-hour kits, especially with all the supply chain issues lately. I’ve updated mine with a small solar panel, a compact fishing kit, and more water purification tabs than I used to carry. Anyone still relying on canned goods, or has freeze-dried become the go-to? Also, what’s everyone using for comms if cell towers go down? Always interested in hearing what gear swaps or additions others are making based on recent events.

Still keeping a good stash of canned goods here—mostly because I cycle what I grow and preserve myself, and I trust what’s in those jars. But I do have some freeze-dried meals tucked away, especially for quick grabs or if I’m not up for cooking. Honestly, both have their place in my kit, just depends on the situation.

For comms, I picked up a small crank/solar radio that gets NOAA and AM/FM, which feels reliable if the power’s out and cell towers go dark. Also got a pair of cheap Baofeng handheld radios, though I’ll admit I’m still learning the ins and outs (should probably practice more than I do). Not as slick as a fancy sat phone, but they’ll do for local chatter with neighbors if it comes to that.

Curious what kinds of food and radio setups others are switching to, especially with prices going up. GarnetDusk, have you found a comms option you trust? Always wondering if I’m missing something obvious.
