Did a full inventory of my bug out bag this morning—noticed I might be light on water purification options. Still got my Sawyer Mini and some purification tabs. Curious what redundancies folks use for clean water on the go, and if anyone carries a small filter as backup?

Sawyer Squeeze is my main, but I tuck in a few iodine tabs and a coffee filter for extra grit. Anyone ever actually needed their backup, or just being cautious?

Carried iodine tabs for years but only actually used them once when my filter froze up. Ever tried boiling as a backup if tabs run out?

Always keep a LifeStraw tucked in my bag for redundancy—filters are great, but stuff breaks. Also stash some Aquatabs and a sturdy metal cup for boiling if I’m out of options. Only had to boil water once during a power outage, but glad I had the setup. Anyone ever have filter cartridges go bad from sitting too long?

Having had a filter freeze on me once, I always carry both tabs and a metal canteen, just in case boiling's my only option. Redundancy is key—filters are great until they aren’t, especially in cold weather. Haven’t had cartridges go totally bad from sitting, but I rotate them out every year to be safe. Anyone
