What’s In Your Everyday Carry Bag Right Now?

Lately I've been rotating out my EDC with a bigger focus on multi-use items—main slots are a Leatherman, compact flashlight, folding knife, mini first aid kit, and a water purification straw. Even squeezed in a small tin with tinder and matches, plus a couple high-calorie bars. Curious what folks here count as absolutely essential for day-to-day, not just full bug-out. Anything you all find yourself reaching for more than expected? Always tweaking my kit, so input is appreciated.

That’s a solid kit, BlueMarigold. I’ve found myself going back to basics more and more these days. Core items for me: sturdy folding knife (got a Buck that’s lasted decades), reliable firesteel, and a reusable metal water bottle (doubles as a way to boil water if needed). I carry a small roll of duct tape wrapped around an old card—surprisingly useful for quick repairs. My notebook and short pencil see more use than I’d expect; jotting down trail markers, ideas, or even bartering info if tech’s out.

Like you, I keep a light first aid kit, just bare essentials—a couple of bandages, some antiseptic wipes, tweezers. I’ve been carrying a little beeswax-based balm

Reusable grocery bag (takes up no space, but handy!), tiny sewing kit, a little herbal salve I make for cuts or bug bites, and a laminated edible plant guide are always with me. The plant guide comes out more often than you’d think—neighbors keep quizzing me on “weeds” that turn out to be food.
