What’s in Your Everyday Carry for Emergencies?

Curious what folks actually keep in their EDC these days—especially older models like pocket tools or compact first aid kits. Is anyone carrying anything unusual that’s proven useful in a real situation? I’m rethinking mine and wouldn’t mind some practical input.

Always have a small magnifying glass—great for reading tiny print or starting a fire in a pinch. Anyone else carry something oddball like that?

I keep a whistle on my keychain—once used it to get help when I slipped on ice. Anyone else carry something for signaling, or am I just paranoid?

Kept a small compass on me since the 70s, just a little brass one—can’t count the number of times it’s helped when my phone died or GPS went haywire. Also, a fold-out pair of reading glasses tucked in the first aid kit (old eyes aren’t what they used to be!). Never thought of a magnifying glass for fire, but adding that now. Anyone try carrying
