Rotated out my heavier winter stuff last month, so right now my GHB is pretty streamlined: sturdy shoes, wool socks, compact rain poncho, small first aid kit, water (filter straw + flat bottle), mini flashlight, and a multitool. I always toss in a protein bar or two, since getting home hungry just makes everything harder. Something I never used to carry but added after last year’s power outage—an old-fashioned map of my area. Phones are great until they aren’t!
