What’s One Prep You Wish You’d Done Sooner?

Building up a deep pantry is the one thing I regret not prioritizing earlier. It’s amazing how quickly staples run low when you can’t just pop out to the store. For those who’ve been at this a while, what’s the prep you wish you’d started sooner? Curious to see if anyone else overlooked something basic and only realized later how essential it was.

Didn’t start my comms prep nearly soon enough—thought just having a few walkie-talkies would cut it. Once I got into ham radio and realized how much more reach and info you can get, it changed everything. Kicking myself for not learning about repeaters and emergency nets earlier. Anyone else wish they’d dug into radios before focusing on gear or food?

Rainwater collection! Can’t believe how long I put that off, figuring city water would always be there. When the pipes froze one winter and we were left hauling in snow just to flush, I really wished I’d set up barrels and learned more about filtering. It’s not hard once you get going, but it’s one of those things you don’t appreciate until you need it. Anyone else have issues with storing water through cold snaps?
