What’s One Prep You Wish You’d Started Sooner?

Wish I’d started canning my own food years before I actually did. The sense of security from seeing those jars stacked up is huge, and home-canned veggies taste worlds better than store-bought. Water bath and pressure canning seemed intimidating at first, but once you get the hang of it, it’s not hard. Anyone else put off a skill and regret waiting? What prep do you wish you’d begun earlier in your journey?
 
Solar power, hands down. Messed around with little panels for my gear, but I kept telling myself I’d invest in a real off-grid setup “someday.” Should’ve started sooner—there’s a big learning curve with batteries, inverters, and figuring out how much power you actually need. Solar is one of those things I put off too, thinking it was all way too technical for my liking. Turns out, like most skills, you just have to dive in and mess up a few times before it makes sense. Wish I’d started tinkering with panels and batteries a decade earlier. Do you feel your setup now covers everything you need, or are you still expanding?
