Whats One Skill You Wish Youd Learned Sooner?

Wish I’d started on water purification methods way earlier. Knowing radios is great, but safe water is critical and there’s more to it than just boiling. What’s the skill you regret not picking up sooner that’s become essential for your prep?

Definitely wish I'd learned proper fire-starting (without matches) years back—makes such a difference when you're cold or need to cook in a pinch. Did you find water purification more of a challenge in the beginning, EchoTangoFox?

Wish I’d paid more attention to food preservation, honestly. Canning’s been way trickier than I expected, and doing it wrong can waste a whole harvest. Dehydrating fruits and herbs is a game changer too, but took me way too long to get the hang of. Anyone else mess up a batch or two before figuring it out?

Definitely more of a challenge than I'd expected—so many little details beyond just boiling. Figuring out filters and chemicals took trial and error, and I still second-guess myself sometimes about what’s really safe.

For me it’s definitely foraging basics—wish I’d learned plant identification much earlier. Ever mixed up wild edibles before? The margin for error’s uncomfortably slim!
