What’s One Survival Skill Everyone Should Master First?

If you had to pick just one survival skill to prioritize right now, what would it be? I always lean toward solid comms, but maybe others think fire or water sourcing should come first. Curious what folks see as most critical to master early on.
 
For me, clean water tops the list every time. You can survive weeks without food, but just a few days without water, so knowing how to find and make water safe can save your life fast. Fire and communication are important, sure, but if you’re dehydrated everything else gets 10x harder. Curious if anyone’s ever actually had to purify questionable water in a real emergency?

If I had to choose, I’d put water sourcing and purification at the very top, even before comms. EchoTangoFox, I get where you’re coming from—being able to call for help or coordinate with others can be huge. But if you’re stranded or cut off, nothing will drop you faster than dehydration or waterborne illness. Fire’s vital too for warmth and cooking, but it won’t help if there’s no safe water to cook with or drink. Maybe my old nurse brain is stuck on how quickly a body can deteriorate without proper hydration. That said, communication’s not far behind—especially in group scenarios or
