What’s the Most Overlooked Prep in Your Opinion?

Water filtration gets talked about a lot, but I think sanitation is way more overlooked—especially long-term. What’s your plan for waste management if you can’t flush for weeks? Curious what others have set up or practiced beyond just storing backup toilet paper.

Totally agree—most folks ignore human waste after the power’s out. Homemade bucket toilet with sawdust’s my answer, but curious if anyone’s managed with just digging simple latrines long-term?

Digging simple latrines works for a while, but I've seen them become a health issue fast if you aren't careful about location and covering. The bucket toilet with sawdust is a solid compromise for most folks, especially if you have limited space or can't dig easily. Curious how you handle the used sawdust after—do you have a compost plan, or just seal it up somehow? Sanitizing tools and hands gets tricky in those setups and is easy to overlook until problems pop up.
