Most folks talk food and water, but sanitation rarely gets enough attention. What’s your plan for waste if the grid goes down long-term? Curious to hear if anyone’s actually built composting systems or something beyond the standard bucket setup.

Absolutely agree—sanitation is huge, and way too many gloss over it. I rigged up a two-barrel composting toilet system out back, based on some old homestead designs I found. Sawdust’s been surprisingly effective, plus I added a vent pipe to cut down on smells. If you’ve got space, rotating between barrels lets waste break down longer before you use it as compost (not for food gardens, just trees). Anyone running a similar setup in winter? Wondering about freezing issues.
