So many folks stash beans and bullets, but hardly anyone really focuses on water filtration beyond the basics. What’s the most overlooked prep you’ve noticed? Curious if it’s something practical skills related or a specific supply folks keep missing.

Water filtration’s a big one, especially when folks just stockpile a few LifeStraws or basic filters and call it good. I think people underestimate how fast that stuff gets used up, clogged, or just plain breaks, especially if you end up needing to filter for a group or long-term. My personal “overlooked” prep is solid off-grid power solutions—solar panels, batteries, basic wiring know-how. Most people focus on food and ammo, but if you’ve got even a small solar setup, you can run radios, charge batteries, maybe keep a small fridge or even an instrument amp going. That peace of mind is hard to beat, and it goes a long way if you

Mental health gets overlooked way too often. Folks stock up on meds or food, but don’t think about what boredom, stress, and isolation can do during a long crisis.
