What’s the One Prep Item You Never Leave Behind?

If you had to grab just one item from your bug out kit in an emergency, what would it be? For me, it's always my multi-tool—can’t beat the versatility. Curious what tops everyone else's must-have list and why.

Water filter, hands down. I’ve tried going without in the past (just for practice!) and realized nothing else matters if you can’t trust your water. Even a tiny Sawyer or Lifestraw takes up almost no space and saves so much hassle. Curious if anyone here has actually had to use theirs in a pinch?

Honestly, for me it’s my little hand-crank radio—if I can get news or weather updates, I feel a lot less lost, even in chaos. Food and water are vital, but knowledge keeps me calm.

It’s got to be my firestarter. I grow and dry herbs for teas and medicine, but none of that helps if I can't get a flame going out in the wild. Cooking, boiling water, warmth—fire covers so many bases. Tried matches and lighters, but a magnesium striker just doesn’t quit. Anybody else ever run into trouble getting a fire lit in bad weather?
