What’s Your Go-To Backup Power Source?

Always looking for reliable backup power, especially for running a well pump and keeping my freezer going during outages. I’ve been using a small solar array with deep cycle batteries, but it’s not always enough during cloudy stretches. Has anyone here had good luck with wind turbines or portable generators that run off propane? Trying to find something dependable but not overly complex to maintain. Would appreciate input on what’s worked (or not) for you all in real-world conditions.

Propane generators have been the most reliable for me when solar alone just won't cut it, especially in winter. Maintenance is pretty straightforward, and propane stores a long time without going bad like gasoline can. Solar works most days, but those cloudy Texas stretches can drag on too long. Never tried wind myself—seems like a bigger investment and finicky with location. Has anyone found wind worth the upfront cost?
