Always end up reaching for my old stainless steel cup—can boil just about anything in it, and it pulls double duty for tea, soup, even digging if need be. Water’s a priority, sure, but I’ve always liked having something that helps make wild greens or foraged roots a bit more edible, not just safe. My filter lives in the bag, but if I’m out longer than planned, boiling feels more reliable (just takes patience and a bit of dry kindling). Handy too for melting snow, or sterilizing found tools if things get rough.
