What’s Your Go-To Item for Unexpected Emergencies?
When something blindsides you—power outage, storm, whatever—there’s always that one piece of gear you reach for without even thinking. For me, it’s my portable solar charger paired with a small battery bank. Keeps the headlamp, radio, even a mini amp for the guitar running if things get drawn out. Nothing fancy, but reliable enough when the grid’s down and the candles burn low.
Curious what others here consider absolutely essential for those we-didn’t-see-this-coming moments. Not talking about a full bug-out setup, just that one thing you’re always glad to have handy. Is it a multitool, water filter, firearm, some specific kind of comms? Trying to trim down the everyday bag and want to see if there’s something I’m overlooking.
Also, anyone have experience with newer compact solar panels in cloudy conditions? My old fold-out’s seen better days and I’ve heard mixed reviews. Recommendations would be appreciated.
