Whats Your Go-To Item for Unexpected Emergencies?

When something unexpected happens—power out, storm, whatever—the one thing I always reach for is my headlamp. Hands-free light makes all the difference, especially if I’m checking on the garden or rummaging through supplies. I’m wondering what item tops your list for grab-and-go emergencies? Is it something practical like a multitool, or more comfort-oriented like a stash of instant coffee? Curious to see what others prioritize when time is tight.

If I had to pick just one thing, it’d have to be my water filter pitcher. I keep it right by the back door, ready to grab if anything catches me off guard (power loss, city pipes acting up, or worse). Clean water calms my nerves faster than anything else, and you can use it for drinking, a quick hand wash, even watering plants if things get really weird. Candles and headlamps are great for light, but I figure you can fumble around a little in the dark if you have to—going without water is another story.

Funny enough, I do stash a little chocolate in the emergency bin too. Sometimes you just need a treat if the night’s not going your way. Does anyone else keep comfort items in reach, or is it all about utility for you?
