Most folks seem to have flashlights stashed everywhere, but I always reach for my crank lantern when the lights go out. No dead batteries, and the hand crank works even after years in a drawer. I also keep a small solar charger handy for phone and radio. Curious what everyone else actually uses in that moment—do you stick with candles, battery lanterns, or something else? Looking to pick up a new tool before storm season hits.

Candles are my first grab, honestly—old habit from way back, and they last ages if you get the right ones. But I do love my little battery fan too, especially when it’s muggy and nothing’s moving. Still haven’t tried a crank lantern, though folks swear by them. Anyone have trouble finding matches or lighters when the power goes? I always seem to misplace 'em.
