What’s Your Go-To Item for Unexpected Power Outages?

When the lights go out unexpectedly, I always reach for my battery-powered lantern first. It gives off enough light to keep moving around safely, and doesn't burn through batteries too fast. I keep several scattered around the house just in case. Curious what everyone else relies on when the grid goes down—do you prefer lanterns, headlamps, or maybe something solar? Would love to hear any recommendations for backup lighting that’s proven reliable in a pinch.

I’m all about those hand-crank flashlights—no batteries to worry about and surprisingly bright if you give ‘em a good turn. They’ve saved me plenty of times when storms roll through. For longer blackouts, I set out a couple of little solar garden lights I keep charged up in the backyard; they’re not fancy, but they’re steady and last all night. Anyone tried solar-powered motion lights indoors? Wondering if they work well as backups.
