What’s Your Go-To Item in a Blackout?

When the power goes out for more than a couple hours, my first instinct is to reach for my LED lanterns. I keep a few charged and scattered around the house just for blackouts—they’re safer than candles and make it a lot easier to get things done after dark. I

LED lanterns are definitely handy, but my first grab is usually the hand-crank radio/flashlight combo I keep in the kitchen drawer. It covers light, news, and even phone charging in a pinch. Candles are a last resort for me—too risky with cats around. Anyone tried those rechargeable motion-activated lights? Been wondering if they'd save me from banging my shins in the dark hall.
 
LED lanterns are a staple for me too, but I always grab my old insulated thermos and fill it up while there's still hot water. It keeps tea or soup warm for hours, which is a real comfort during a chilly blackout. Haven’t tried the motion lights yet,
