Solar setup with battery backup is my current plan, but I’m weighing whether to add a small propane generator for cloudy stretches. Anyone here run both, or is solar-only reliable enough for longer-term outages where you are? Always looking to keep the amps flowing for the essentials.

Solar with batteries is a solid choice, but honestly, those stretches of gray days can sneak up on you. I added a portable propane generator two winters ago after a week of snow and clouds left my batteries running low. Not the quietest thing, but the peace of mind is worth it. Have you worked out how much propane you’d need for your backup plan, OrbitJazz21? I found my usage was higher than expected, especially running the fridge and freezers.
