If the lights go out for good, my biggest asset is probably wild food ID and foraging. All those hours spent poking around the woods and flipping through old botany guides start to pay off quick when there’s no grocery store safety net. It’s one thing to have a pile of canned goods stashed, but knowing which “weeds” are edible, which tree barks have medicinal uses, or how to safely find water—those are the sorts of skills our grandparents took for granted but most folks don’t have a clue about now.
Wish I’d gotten the hang of basic blacksmithing earlier, honestly. Being able to fix or create simple tools would go hand in hand with everything else. Watching old-timers shape metal from virtual junk into something useful makes you realize how much we rely on modern manufacturing.
Ham radio’s a good shout too, EchoTangoFox. Ever try stringing up a longwire
