Whats Your Most Overlooked Prep Item and Why?

Everyone talks food, water, and ammo, but I rarely see folks mention spare reading glasses or prescription backups. In a long-term grid-down, losing your only pair could be a real problem. What’s one prep you think most people overlook that could bite them later?

Socks, honestly. Dry, clean socks can make all the difference if you’re stuck on your feet for days. Do most folks stash extras in their go-bags?
 
Wind-up radios don’t get mentioned enough, in my experience. If you’ve ever lost power for days, having one you don’t need batteries for is a lifesaver for news and weather. Folks focus on flashlights, but staying informed is just as big a deal. Anyone got a recommendation for a sturdy model that actually lasts?
 
Clothespins! Seems silly at first, but after Hurricane Rita, drying anything indoors or out was a nightmare without them. Wet clothes, towels, even improvised tarps—hanging stuff out to dry or air can be vital for hygiene and morale. Most folks
 
One thing I always keep tucked away is a small tin of good salve—something homemade with calendula or plantain. Skin gets beat up fast in any rough situation, and little cuts or rashes can turn into big problems if you’re not careful. It’s surprising how easy it is to forget about basic wound care when you’re focused on the big stuff. Anyone else stock up on herbal remedies, or is that just me?
