Whats Your Most Overlooked Prep Item?

It’s easy to get caught up stocking the obvious essentials—water, food, meds, first aid—but I keep wondering what really important items might be hiding on the edges of our lists. For instance, I realized not long ago I had almost zero backup for feminine hygiene products, something we often just assume will always be available. Same goes for extra eyewear (reading glasses, especially), or simple tools like sewing needles and heavy thread for repairs.

What are some preps you think most of us tend to overlook until it’s too late? Is there a particular item you forgot on your first go-around that turned out to be more crucial than expected? Maybe something like sturdy gloves, extra shoelaces, or even plain old baking soda (useful for cleaning, deodorizing, even first aid at times). I’d really appreciate folks sharing the little things that tend to slip through the cracks but can make a huge difference in a long-term situation. Let’s help each other spot the gaps!

Totally agree about extra glasses, BlueSkyWanderer—my vision isn’t what it used to be and it’s so easy to forget backups until you break a pair. I’d add sturdy gloves to the list. It’s amazing how much damage your hands can take, even just working around the house or garden, not to mention in a real emergency. Most folks remember first aid kits, but not always the simple things like chapstick, which can be a lifesaver in dry conditions.
