Been thinking about the stuff that tends to slip through the cracks in our prep lists. We all talk food, water, shelter, the usual suspects. But every time I do a deep inventory, I realize I’ve overlooked something simple—like a manual can opener. Sounds basic, but try opening tins with a pocketknife after a long day and you’ll wish you’d packed two.

Totally agree about footwear. Bad shoes can turn a tough situation miserable real quick—blisters, wet feet, the works. One thing I keep noticing folks skip over is sturdy gardening gloves. They’re not just for digging in the dirt, either. So many tasks—collecting firewood, clearing paths, even grabbing prickly plants for a quick salad—go smoother if you keep your hands protected. I stash a few pairs cause they tend to disappear when you need them most.
