Spare eyeglasses really are a lifesaver—never thought about it until my brother-in-law found himself squinting at everything during a power outage. One thing I always notice gets forgotten is a manual can opener. Seems simple, but if you’ve got shelves of canned goods and nothing but an electric opener, you’re going to be pretty frustrated

Dental care supplies get overlooked all the time. Imagine making it through a few rough weeks, only to end up with a toothache or worse. I always stash extra toothbrushes, floss, and even a little jar of clove oil for emergencies. A bad tooth infection can turn into a serious issue fast if you can't get to a dentist.
