What’s Your Most Overlooked Prep Item?

We all stock food, water, and first aid, but I’m curious—what’s the one item you always pack that most people seem to forget? For me, it’s plain old baking soda. It’s ridiculously versatile: cleaning, deodorizing, even brushing teeth if you run out of paste. Would love to hear what lesser-known things you all count on, maybe pick up a new idea or two myself. Absolutely agree with baking soda—honestly, I've even used it to relieve a bit of heartburn in a pinch (though I wouldn’t recommend making a habit of it). One thing I never see mentioned is safety pins. They’re tiny, but I’ve fixed gear, made splints, and even fashioned makeshift fish hooks with them. It’s funny how those simple little things can end up saving the day just as much as the big-ticket preps.
