What’s Your Most Underrated Survival Skill?

Everybody talks about fire-starting and shelter, but what about proper wound cleaning with improvised materials? It’s saved more lives than most realize. What skills do you all think get overlooked that could make the difference when things really go sideways?

Absolutely agree—improvised wound care gets glossed over way too often. Knowing how to sanitize and dress even a small cut with whatever’s at hand can truly be a game changer in tough situations.

Reading a map the old-fashioned way is hugely underrated. Everyone depends on GPS now, but tech fails or gets jammed. If you can navigate with just a topo map and compass, you're already ahead of most. Plus, being able to relay positions or directions over radio without GPS coordinates is a real lifesaver. Anyone else practice map skills regularly, or am I the odd one out here?
