A sturdy set of oil lamps and extra fuel have seen me through more outages than anything else—light makes everything else easier, and you don’t worry about batteries running out. For multi-day events, they’re a lifesaver, especially if you’ve got cold rooms or need to keep reading after dark. Solar’s great, but sometimes old-school just works.
