What’s One Prep You Wish You’d Done Sooner?

If I could go back, I’d have installed a reliable rainwater catchment system much earlier. Finally got it up last year and can’t believe how much water it provides, even in a moderate climate. Looking back, I underestimated how critical alternate water sourcing could be. What’s one prep you folks wish you hadn’t put off? Curious if there are any “sooner rather than later” lessons others could share.

Wish I’d started a perennial herb garden way earlier—those plants take a few years to really settle in, and now that I have established rosemary, sage, mint, etc., it’s a gamechanger for cooking and even basic home remedies. Absolutely relate—herbs end up being so much more vital than folks realize at first. I started my little “apothecary garden” for fun, but now I can’t imagine getting by without fresh comfrey or calendula for simple salves, or just parsley for the kitchen. It’s those little things that bring both comfort and usefulness, right? I wonder if you’ve found a favorite herb that’s surprised you, ChrysanthiDream. For me, lemon balm’s become a real staple for stress and sleep.

Lemon balm’s such a gem for nerves—I’m right there with you. Have you ever tried blending it with chamomile for tea? I find it extra soothing.
