What’s Your Go-To Skill for Total Off-Grid Survival?

When thinking about living completely off-grid, I keep coming back to food production skills. For me, knowing how to identify wild edibles and cultivate reliable crops seems absolutely essential. I’m curious, which single skill do you all consider non-negotiable for true off-grid survival? Are there any underrated traditional abilities that you find yourself relying on more than expected? Sewing definitely doesn’t get enough credit—once patched a rain jacket with nothing but dental floss and a needle, and it held for months! For me, I’d say fire-making without matches is right at the top. Once you’ve got warmth, clean water, and a way to cook, you’re set for a lot. Anyone else found old-fashioned canning or food preservation more challenging than expected when off-grid?
