So many people stockpile food and water, but hardly anyone talks about spare eyeglasses. If you need prescription lenses, what’s your plan if yours break post-disaster? Curious what other rarely-mentioned items folks keep around that aren’t on the usual checklists.

Spare eyeglasses are such an easy thing to overlook, but absolutely vital if you rely on them. I tucked a backup pair into my emergency go-bag after nearly losing mine while gardening—lesson learned! On a similar note, I keep an old prescription around just in case I have to order online or improvise. Makes me wonder what other small essentials, like denture adhesive or even simple sewing kits, get passed over too often.

Spare eyeglasses are one of those things you don’t truly appreciate until you’re stumbling around without them! I’ve kept an extra pair in every car and bag since I once snapped mine during a power outage—definitely not fun. Building on that idea, one item I rarely see mentioned is a manual can opener.
