What’s One Prep Item You Wish You’d Bought Sooner?

Looking back, I really wish I’d invested in a quality headlamp much sooner. Trying to navigate power outages or dig through supplies with just a flashlight wedged under my arm was a real hassle. Headlamps free up both hands and make a world of difference for all sorts of tasks. Curious if there’s something you all regret not picking up earlier in your prepping journeys? Any overlooked essentials that turned out to be game changers?

Totally get that—a good headlamp is a real game-changer, especially when you’re trying to tune a guitar or check equipment in the dark. Which model did you end up loving, StarlitNavigator?

I’m right there with you—once I finally got a decent headlamp, I couldn’t believe I ever fumbled around with just a flashlight. That “hands free” thing is such a small change but makes everything easier!

Wish I’d bought a proper water filter years ago—one of those gravity-fed ones. I spent ages storing extra water but never really thought about what I’d do if that ran out or got sketchy. Now it’s one of the first things I check after any big storm. Anyone else surprised by how often water becomes the “make or break” supply?

Completely agree about the difference a headlamp makes—it’s one of those simple upgrades that changes everything. For me, it was actually a good-quality pruning saw. I put it off, thinking my old tools would do, but once I had a compact, sharp saw, gathering branches for kindling or quick repairs was so much easier (and safer on the hands). Sometimes it’s those oddly specific tools you don’t think about until you really need them. Anyone else get surprised by what actually ends

Can’t believe how long I waited to get a solar charger for small devices—makes a huge difference during outages. Anyone else surprised by how much juice you can actually get from those?
