Best Budget Ways to Build Up a Food Stockpile?

Looking to stretch my dollars while building up a decent food stash—anyone got tips on bulk buys or overlooked cheap staples that actually last? Also curious about good DIY storage methods for stuff like rice and beans. Appreciate any solid advice that doesn’t break the bank.

Check local restaurant supply stores—they often sell big bags of rice, beans, and oats way cheaper than the grocery. For storage, I wash out 2-liter bottles real good and use those for dry goods. Keeps pests out and fits nicely in the closet. If you've got the patience, watch for sales at Aldi or similar places, bulk pasta and canned tomatoes last ages. Anyone ever try vacuum sealing with just ziplocks and a straw?
