Best Low-Budget Ways to Boost Food Storage?

Canning and dehydrating have stretched my budget a lot, but I'm always looking for new ideas. What are your go-to methods for cheap, long-term food storage? Any tips on bulk buys or overlooked preservation techniques?

Root cellaring’s been a game changer for me, especially with potatoes, squash, and apples—costs almost nothing if you’ve got a cool corner or old basement. Also, dry beans and rice in reused glass jars keep well and you can score big bags at warehouse stores for a song. Ever tried making your own fruit leather? Just an oven and some overripe fruit, plus it keeps ages when wrapped up tight. Anyone here freeze-dry at home, or is that too pricey?
