Best Low-Cost Ways to Build Up Food Storage?

Bulk dry goods like rice, beans, and oats have been my mainstay, but prices seem to be creeping up everywhere. I’m curious what others are doing lately to stretch their food storage dollar—any new sources for affordable staples? Do you guys prefer canning at home, or is store-bought still worth it for the
 
Canning local produce when it’s in season saves me a ton, plus I know exactly what’s in my jars. Anyone found a good deal on lids lately?
 
Canning what I grow has cut costs way down, but finding cheap lids is tricky lately—has anyone tried reusing tattler lids more than a couple times?
 
Stocking up on store-brand canned veggies when they’re on sale still works out cheaper than canning some years, especially if you don’t have a big garden. But when tomatoes and green beans are everywhere, canning at home is hands down the best value for me. Haven’t had great luck reusing Tattler lids more than twice though, they start losing their seal for me by the third round. Anybody else notice that, or do I just have bad luck with them?
