Looking to up my water purification game for off-grid situations. I know boiling and basic filters are common, but what’s truly the best long-term, low-maintenance method when you can’t rely on electricity? I’ve read mixed things about gravity filters and DIY systems with activated charcoal. Anyone have experience with ceramic filters or even solar stills? Would love recommendations for something reliable but not overly complicated or prone to breaking down.

Ceramic filters have been a solid choice for me—no electricity, and they last years if you keep them clean (just need a gentle scrub). I pair mine with activated charcoal for taste, and that combo’s kept us healthy so far. Never had much luck with solar stills though, way too slow for anything but emergencies.
