Best Ways to Store Water Long-Term at Home?

Looking to step up my home water storage and curious what containers folks trust for the long haul. Are food-grade barrels really the best, or has anyone had luck with alternative setups? Would love tips on keeping things potable without constantly rotating.

For long-term, I've had the best luck with 55-gal food-grade blue barrels. They're tough, don't leach, and keep out light (which really cuts down on algae growth). I treat my water with a little unscented bleach—about 1/8 teaspoon per gallon—so I don't have to rotate more than once a year. Never store 'em direct on concrete though; stick a pallet under to keep the plastic from breaking down. Has anyone tried those big stack
