Best Ways to Store Water Long-Term—What Actually Works?

I’ve been researching the best ways to store water long-term (thinking 6 months or more), but seeing a lot of conflicting info out there. Is it better to use those blue barrels or can you just rotate tap water in food-grade totes? Curious if folks here have had actual

Been using those blue food-grade barrels for a couple years now and they’re solid. Make sure you clean them well and store them off concrete (I use old wood pallets). I add a tiny bit of regular bleach for longer storage, just in case—haven’t had issues yet. The totes are fine too, as long as they’re food safe, but I’d trust the barrels more for 6+ months. Does anyone here bother with water preserver drops, or is bleach still the go-to?
